HowTo {Revive} a Shaggy Old Sweatshirt

I've been MIA lately due to a crazy few weeks of school but I have a treat for y'all today!

My friend Kelsey is taking over my blog and giving you a taste of her trendy style. I really wish I had the guts to pull it off like she does! So without further adieu....

So Haley has asked me to "guest blog" on this thing. I am not a blogger and to be honest, I make fun of Haley all the time for it ;) but she's my roommate and I love her, and I like to get crafty. So I'm going to share with you something that I made yesterday.

I've had this black sweatshirt for years. Actually, it was my brother's first. He probably bought the thing in middle school (he's twenty-two now!) and I still freakin' wear it. It is totally faded, the front pocket is torn and there's a huge hole in the left arm, but it has so much character that I can't seem to part with it just yet.

Since it was already pretty roughed up, I figured why not put a few more holes in it? I had seen a really cool picture on Tumblr of a girl wearing a sweatshirt with a skull cut out of the back. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the picture again, but decided I could make my own from what I remembered. So I grabbed my old sweatshirt and chose my favorite skull design from the Internet. The best thing about this whole project is that it's free! Just grab an old shirt or sweatshirt and a pair of scissors.

Here's the front of it. Soo old, I know.
You're probably wondering... she really wears that thing? Yeah, I really do. (Haley and I have drastically different styles...but somehow it works out).

Step 1: Decide how big you want your cut out to be, and sketch it out with washable marker on the back. (I made the mistake of using Sharpie...) Sorry, no picture!

Step 2: Start cutting! Be really careful not to accidentally cut off the lines in the eyes or nose. I had to perform a little surgery on the nose :(

Tip: To get the lines to look grungy and curled, lick your fingers and roll the fabric between them.

Step 3: Try it on!! (the best part)

You should get something like this! Wear it during the summer over a bathing suit, or if you're feeling free, with no top at all. :)

Thanks for reading guys!
I may not blog but I am an avid Pinner... you can follow me here

Kelsey
